Sweet Shady Shack was a small bubble tea shop with a big personality — and I had the joy of designing every part of it, inside and out. From the logo and packaging to the interior decor, signage, posters, and merchandise, the brand was crafted to stop people in their tracks, invite them in, and make them smile.
With no franchise name recognition behind us, the design had to work extra hard. Bold colors, kawaii-inspired characters, and Memphis-style patterns gave the shop an identity that felt bright, whimsical, and impossible to ignore. Even the cups were designed to look like characters — turning every drink into something worth photographing. People described the space as joyful and transporting — like stepping into a happy alternate world. Some customers got off the bus early just to see what the place was. One city bus driver even made it part of his route to stop for a drink.
The brand became a local favorite, with customers sharing selfies, reels, and TikToks that spread our visibility organically. The drinks — lovingly developed by my wife — kept people coming back. And the design? It gave them something fun and familiar to come back to.
